I defected to the A1 camp...

I found a good deal on an A1 keyboard so I swapped my rack version of the Lead 4 for it!
I tried to hold out as long as possible, but in the end the temptation was too much to bear. Though I had reservations before going through with it, I have to say that I knew I had made the right decision after just two minutes with the A1.
The funny thing is that I had wanted the A1 to get the smoother, warmer analog sound that the Lead 4 has so much trouble capturing, but what I love most about the A1 now is the shimmery digital sounds it can put out. This thing fits right in with the JD-800/D-50/Wavestation crowd! I love it! No regrets whatsoever.
Sound clips to definitely follow soon.

Hej CombatHook!
Yes, the NLA1 is the greatest, really ... but you should also have kept your NL4?

It would have been nice to have both, but the overlap is significant and I'm running out of studio space, even for just a 3U module.

Welcome to the world of the NORD Lead A1 !! I haven't played a Lead 4 yet (and think this also sounds great !!),
but the A1 is super !! I have a lot of fun with this intuïtive and superb sounding machine ! THANKS NORD !!!

It really is incredible. I get the same feeling playing it as I did with my very first keyboard years and years ago. I think it's the slightly different interface/feature set to normal subtractive synthesizers that gives it a "mysterious" and fresh programming experience. And of course the amazing and flexible sound engine makes you want to emulate all of your favorite 80s and 90s synths. It's very inspiring.
I need a notepad to write down all of the ideas I'm getting while playing it before I forget.

Hi combathook,
Congratulations on your NLA1 Keyboard.
I will never sell my NL4 Rack. I Love it a lot, actually it is one of my favorite synths ! I also love my NLA1 (Rack). But need to spend more time programming it, I have been focused more on programming my NL4 (rack) for the past two years, and it never fails to surprise me, as to how amazing it can sound, and the unique sounds it can produce are just endless.
imho. the NL4 and NLA1 complement each other very nicely, having both, offers you an awesome sonic palette to make music.
Enjoy your NLA1 . But, you might consider adding the NL4 once again to you setup in the future
Cheers,
Muziksculp

I'm in this camp... recently sold my NL4 rack and getting the A1. Also getting an NL3 (had one years ago and loved it). I think those two will complement each other quite well.
and yes... if money and space were irrelevant, I'd collect them all.

Hi Shaw417,
I am a big NL fan. So far my collection includes the NL2X, NLA1, and NL4, all in Rack models, which are easier to move around, and take much less space than Keyboard models, I used to own a NL3 keyboard a long time ago. but made a bad decision at the time, (Sold it)

, so ... I'm also considering adding a NL3 one of these days, but not in a big rush, especially if Clavia delights us with a new NL5, or NL-Modular
Cheers,
Muziksculp

Muziksculp.... I sold both a NL3 rack and Modular G2 rack -- and I regret not having them both. Never again will I sell another. The only other synth I say that about is DSI.
... and if anyone has a Modular G2 rack for sale, please PM me!!!
