... or anything that comes close from the Nord Sample Library. I'm playing on saturday and unfortunately (for now) don't have much time to look through all the samples :(

Help would be much appreciated!

Here's a NS2 program - maybe some kind person here can sample it for you as I don't have time right now.
It has two synths using both A and B slots and a zone split. To make it work for an electro, you'd have to sample both and hardwire the split in the .nsmp
I've uploaded a raw WAV so you can make a .nsmp without needing a NS2... i tried to make one but it sounded nothing as good as the synth, so i'll let someone with more sampling skill do it.

I meant to say - i'm guessing you have a bass player and a guitarist but you probably have to do the strings and sax parts yourself... maybe someone can help point you towards those in the Nord library...

Also, always good to upload a YouTube clip of the original - makes it easier for people to help ;-)

There's a string sample that comes with my Electro 4 that works well, it has a good attack if played hard but slower if played softly. Can't find the name, my PC and Electro are having a falling out. Just scroll through the built-in ones - if you play it right, no-one cares if the sound is spot-on as they're not AB-ing in a gig!

The "synth" sound sounds more to me like an organ, which is good as you'd not be able to play two samples simultaneously on the Electro 5. Just dial up maximum on the B3's 8' 4' 2' and 1' drawbars, turn off the Leslie, and add plenty of reverb. Or you might find, depending on your mix/speakers, the Vox works better with 16', 8', 4' and 2', plus the III mixture and Sine all out (or just a little triangle if you need to cut through the mix a bit more).

Frankly either of those settings sound near enough to me. Just leave off the Leslie and the other mixtures if you're using the Vox.

PC and Nord have made up. String sample is StringOrchestra_ _ste SRv5

I'm not convinced that the video above is remotely original - the bassline is even different in parts. Try this, less reverb on the organ, and I think the Vox 16-8-4-2 all maximum, no mixtures, but the sine all out and the triangle halfway out instead. Still no Leslie :)

Here are two patches to cover the song.

Funky Town has the synth riff on the right side of the split, and the funky sax below
FunkStrings is the sound needed. Put both patches next to each other so that you can select either with a single button push-

@DJKeys - the OP has an Electro 5 not a Stage 2. :-(
I'll take your programs though and maybe combine with mine to make a new one - i'll see if I prefer your synth to mine first! thx

Neolithic-

Oh, thanks, didn't read carefully. Thanks for doing this! My synth is pretty darn close to the record. If I have time, maybe I can create some samples for our friend.

Quai34-

I never played a Prophet 8, so I can't compare. But if you check out this huge thread on Gearslutz, you will find more information:
