Hi there,

I hope your all well? Just looking into getting a Nord Electro 4 or 5. Looks perfect, the only thing I can find out is with the sample engine, does it have like a low pass filter built in or anything so that you can open/close the filter like on a synth?

You need a nord stage for that.

No is the simple answer. However...

The sample engine has velocity dynamics, which can control a low pass filter. It's entirely dependent on how hard you play, may not be supported by the sample patch you're using, is two-pole (at most) I think, non-resonant, without a knob, and useful for adding brightness but not really a synth-type filter. You can also get filter-type effects from both the EQ and effects. The Pedal Wah will give you a sweepable resonant bandpass filter you can control by the Rate knob.

None of them are that resonant (or not) four pole LPF, but you're not without options. Remember that the Electro is monotimbral/bitimbral (4/5). I find it works well with a rompler on top. If you want an all-in-one option, the Stage is the way to go. Or add a Nord Wave on top.

Electro 4 is not a synth, so basically, no. However, the EQ has a knob that changes the frequency of the midrange band - it has a similar effect to some filter sweeps

... depending on the setting of the gain control, turn to +15dB for maximum sweep. Some sounds also work well with the treble/bass gains turned right down to help emphasise the sweep.
