Problems with NS2 and MIDI (Cubase)

Hi,
I'm having problems when recording MIDI in Cubase with the NS2 and trying to listen to the MIDI tracks with the sounds of the NS2.
I can record MIDI tracks, but the signal coming back to the NS2 I can not hear it through my audio interface (Steinberg UR44). I can hear it with headphones connected to the NS2 or conecting directly the output of the NS2 to the speakers, but not thorugh the audio interface (and from there to the speakers).
¿Any idea of what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!

Maybe you have changed the audio output in the NS2 to 3 & 4 instead of the default 1 & 2?
Maybe your audio interface is broken or not set up properly?

Hi Xugalde,
It is difficult to correctly understand what is going on without a complete description of how everything is connected. Can you please tell us more detail so that we can better assist you?
Bless,
Pablo
Mr. G, when audio output is set to 3/4, it is no longer audible in headphone output. Since OP has signal in headphone, that can't be it.

Can you record the NS2 audio in cubase? If not, it is normal that you can't hear it.

Hi,
mon8169, yes, I can correctly record audio in cubase.
mr G, I'm using outpus Ch1 & Ch2 of the NS2. My UR44 Stinberg audio interface is new I bought it one week ago and i can properly work with audio.
Description of the audio interface (Steinberg UR44) Connection set:
Ch1& Ch2 ouptuts form NS2 are conected to Line Inputs 1 & 2 of the UR44. I also have the USB conected to the compulter.
The main outputs (L & R) of the UR44 are connected to the speakers.
Obviusly my NS2 is also connected via USB to the computer.
Any more ideas? Is there any settings I should take into account in the NS2? To me it seems that the problem has to do with something in the UR44 settings but I cannot see it

A detail that is missing is that you need to check that the NS2 outputs are indeed channelled to 1 & 2 (Shift System menu).
You should be able to hear something if you connect 1 & 2 to an amp. If you do not, either the board if fried (unlikely) or you have set without noticing to send audio to 3 & 4?
Other than that, maybe in cubase you haven't enabled the audio channel.
Just in case, you are likely to know this but it never hurts to repeat it: if you record MIDI, you do not get audio recorded anywhere, so perhaps you have to switch on some input or monitoring switch in Cubase so the audio while play back is routed in (sorry I do not know about latest versions of Cubase).

Yes, the NS2 is channelled to 1&2.
For me it has something to do with UR44. I have tried the same thing with my old Audiogram3 audio interface and there is no problem: I hear the MIDI tracks with the sounds of the NS2 both when I'm recording and when I play back what I have recorded.
One more thing: when I play back what i have reocrded in MIDI I can see in the front of the UR44 audio interface the two lights of input 1 & 2 turning on. Therefore the audio signal created by the NS2 with the MIDI information recorded in Cubase is really coming into the UR44 but for some strange reason is not coming out of the UR44 to the speakers.

It goes without saying that I can hear perfectly audio tracks recorded in Cubase.

Maybe I was not clear: do you also need to switch on any direct monitoring in Cubase?
I think it is not the same to hear what you recorded than hearing what comes in the input of the card while playing an already recorded track. Am I wrong?

Of course, I have tried the direct monitoring switch on and off and it does not work.
It definitley has to do with the UR44. I have already asked for support to Steinberg. I will let you know.
