Nord announces Electro 5
Hey all,
Saw this go by in my facebook feed this morning. Nord is releasing the Electro 5. Looks like a pretty great bread and butter unit. As someone with a Stage 2 HA88, and who's tired of lugging it to gigs, the electro 5 could be a very interesting alternative depending on its price point. However, I've yet to find that information. Has anyone heard anything about how much these will cost?
Here's a link to the Electro 5's product page on the Nord website: http://www.nordkeyboards.com/products/nord-electro-5
Cheers!

Damn, can't say they don't listen! Has almost everything people have been asking for. More like a stage light than anything. It's a bit of a stretch calling that a "synth" section though.
I can't see myself upgrading this year. I can still see a Stage 3 or Stage 2 EX on the cards sometime soon.

Re: Nord announces Electro 5
hmm,
so they added: vibe effect, overdrive, split piano/organ etc, setlist mode, pipe organ, synth section, expanded the memory, and added drawbars and a few little other changes here and there.
I actually like my digital drawbars and the 4 is weighs a little less than the 5. I like the existing pipe sample I have and its not the most important sound anyway... so unless a bunch of new bigger samples that i need come along, im fine with the 4 still. New customers got a good product coming though.

Re: Nord announces Electro 5
Trying to not have gear envy; I could return my NE4 still as I am in the 30 day window, but I don't think I can make it to April without a board. I do like the drawbuttons too on my 4 but the setlist feature looks really nice and the rotary speaker switch also is a nice add (though the pedal makes it kind of moot). I probably have plenty of pianos too. Splits are a nice feature; I wonder the chances that we will get an OS update that will include this or if there is an architecture limitation.
I am in love with my electro4 so maybe I should just pretend I never saw the new one!

Re: Nord announces Electro 5
Very nice / smart move from Nord again IMHO.
Keep your stage 2 as collector, 99% need this E5, not a stage.
I'm worried about the price ...

"the Stage pianos and Electros are bringing home the bacon, so to speak." --Nordelius
So it makes perfect sense to keep these lines moving. I am sure the market for the Stage is much smaller..
I was also thinking the NE5 would sit pricewise a little higher than the 4, but lower than the Stage. Historically, when a new electro line came out, did they keep the previous in production for a while?
