Hi!
I'm looking for the patch "simply the best" by tina turner for my ns2. I've tried to create a patch but it does not fit.......
If somebody has it would be great if you can share it.
Thank you

The sound for the main keyboard riff on the intro and verses was a factory preset from a Roland D50 slightly edited. (I can't remember the name of it offhand). The bad news is that this sound is probably going to be next to impossible to replicate on a Stage. A quick Google tells me it was the "OK Chorale" preset. You might be better off trying to find a sample of the original D50 sound and use that.
Hi Marlowes - good detective work. I'm pretty sure that the OK Chorale 1 or 2 are the right samples. Those sorts of typical D50 sounds are a nightmare to try and copy with subtractive synthesis - even with a variety of digital waveforms as raw material, you just never capture them.
As far as using these samples in "Simply The Best" is concerned, it's been a long time, but I remember more or less how it goes. You need to lower the VCA envelope sustain level a bit as the note volume should fade slightly while you're holding the notes, and then simply adjust release and maybe attack time to suit the track.
The stabs on the intro and under the verse vocals are simply either lowish F octaves or F5 chord (F-C-F) - can't remember which. The answer riff between the lead vocal lines is 4 two-note chords: playing F at the bottom, the top notes of the chords are just C-D-E-F. So you've got C over F, D over F, E over F, F octave over F - ie with F as the bass note, the high notes are just 5th, 6th, major 7th, octave. I think I doubled the chords in both hands an octave apart to thicken the sound. That should do the trick.

OK, I spent some time with this tonight. The patch should be usable, but can be tweaked to your hearts content. The notes aren't exact either, but you get the idea.
The pad above the split has the keyboard tracking disabled, so it should work for the chorus as well, as there is should be enough high end and movement. You can also add a little vibrato with aftertouch if you like.
