lead 3 keyboard start up problem

Hi, I hope some can help. The keyboard basically goes into some kind of start-up loop. The display comes up with the start-up message, waits a few secs, then flashes and goes back to the startup message. It has been getting progressively worse, now it can't start up at all. The dealer reckoned it was a power issue, I had a look inside, changed a few capacitors on the power module without any improvement after I showed it to my electrical engineer colleague...
I'm new to the forum, I just googled" lead 3 " and found this forum,I never even knew it existed, and I've had the keyboard for over 10years!
Hope I can get it working again...

Hello!
I have two Nord Lead 3 ( 100V and 115V ) synths. Both have the same problem which I've narrowed down to problems with the power I supply them. I live in Japan and the 115V unit "requires" a Step Up voltage regulator or it simply will just loop on end. The 100V works fine but occasionally freezes due to power ripples. I use a power conditioner which eliminated that issue completely. It's possible the "Capacitor Mod" would fix or help the issue, but from my experience thus far, it's been more about the location and quality of power I feed the Nord Lead 3. Have you changed countries, cities, houses, venues since the time you purchased the Nord Lead 3? The Nord Lead 3 is definitely ultra sensitive. There are a lot of variables that can factor into why your Nord Lead 3 is now acting up. Perhaps others will have other ideas. I do know that the "Capacitor Mod" that some may talk about does not work for everyone. It's only a solution for some. Best of luck.

Hi, thanks for the response, it seems to be a known issue then. I moved from the UK a couple of years ago actually. I measured the power supply and it's 242V , what is the power conditioner you are using? I can try this.
How about the capacitor mod, is this a change in the type of capacitors used? I just put some new ones in with the same capacitance...
Thanks for your help!

See post #19 and if you feel adventurous you can do it at your own risk.

Oh great, thanks for that I will definitely try it! Looks like it's a fairly common problem
