Any idea to use only one cable on nordwave(MONO)? If i connect only one cable on left output it's ok?like other keyboards ( korg, yamaha)

Mono Output?
Quick question-
I own an Electro 3 and am thinking about picking up the Nord Wave. The NE3 has the left output labeled as Mono. For live use, I don't need stereo output. The Nord Wave back panel does not designate a mono output. In order to get the entire signal out of the Wave, do I have to use both left and right outputs?

While I don't own the Nord Wave, I found one in a local music shop over the weekend and decided to investigate.
You are correct that the Nord Wave doesn't have a summing jack and therefor requires both Left and Right audio outputs to be connected.
I took a peek in there with a flashlight, usually an instrument that sums on one jack, has a normally closed contact in the opposite sides' jack.
This contact would parallel the two audio signals together like a Y-cable. I didn't see this in the Nord Wave.
My recommendation would be to use a Y-cable to sum the two outputs whenever you want to run in mono.
The manual makes reference to it being a true stereo signal path. As I interpret this, even if you were to start with a monaural sample, you'd still encounter issues with the stereo effects section "if not using a Y-cable to do the summing".
Feel free to contact Nord technical support for confirmation at this link: http://www.nordkeyboards.com/main.asp?t ... al_support
I hope this helps.
Cheers, Hanon

you have to use a Y-cable to sum the Left and Right into one cable for monaural use.
I gave a more detailed response here: http://www.norduserforum.com/nord-wave- ... -t769.html

Re: Mono Output?
I just picked up a Monster adapter that sums two 1/4" outputs to a single TRS stereo female. I can run a single TRS cable to my balanced line mixer and get both sides of the stereos signal (no fancy panning, though).
Thanks again!

Re: Mono Output?
I take it back........
Don't buy this. When the two stereo outputs are summed, the effects are somehow doubled and the sound is thin and weird. I experimented with the L/R jacks, and the output of both appears to be identical, so I will use one of them for live performance.

Very quick question re: Mono output for Wave
Hi Guys,
If I am playing a gig and using the Wave but only through a mono system, does the LEFT output sum both L+R if only one cable is plugged in?
Or if not, is there a way to set the Wave to output as mono?
Cheers and thanks!
Mike
