Turning on/off String Resonance on Nord Stage EX
Posted: 26 May 2011, 16:04
Hi,
New to the forum. Hope I'm not being redundant by offering this bit of information.
I have a Nord Stage EX that I bought in December of 2008. As you all know the string resonance (SR) feature was added to the EX series with OS 5.10. Also you need to load at least the 4.0 XLR versions or the 5.0 piano samples (either medium or large).
Not clear to me was how to access the SR feature. The panel on my Nord is not like you will see in the manual, at least not in v 5.0 or 6.0. There is only a little blurb on Clavia's website in the OS update page under v. 5.12..."String Resonance is turned on by pressing the Clav EQ Medium/Soft button so that the Medium LED is lit, when a XLR piano is active".
If anybody else was confused about turning on/off SR on the Nord Stage EX let me summarize:
To turn on and off the string res, you need to toggle thru the second button, the one below the Clav/EQ button (labeled Medium and Soft).
• Press the button once - the soft light goes on - the main display indicates "piano mono on".
• Press the button again - the soft light goes out/medium light goes on - the main display indicates "string resonance on".
• Press the button again - both soft and medium lights are on - both piano mono and SR are on.
• Press the button again - both soft and medium lights go out - both are off.
In some situations SR won't make a difference but in a solo performance it adds a lot and I find I don't even need reverb or just a touch.
Hope this helps.
