Hey all,
I've been a Nord Lead 2 & Nord Modular G1 owner for many years & am thinking of upgrading the NL2 to an NL4. The real deal clincher for me is as follows, in the NL2 in Performance mode I can set each slot to a different Midi channel or off - I use this to have master control over the NM G1; I have looked at the manual for the NL4 & it would seem that this is not possible on the NL4 - it merely sends on the Global midi channel. I really hope that this isn't the case, but could someone out there confirm either way? I use my set up live & it has worked really well for me.
Many thanks.

NL4 - Midi Slots in Performance Mode
Re: NL4 - Midi Slots in Performance Mode
Hi,
“ Slot Channel - A, B, C, D -
Set individual MIDI Channels for the Slots when they should respond to
MIDI events on certain incoming MIDI Channels
Range: 1 ~ 16, Off ”
Page 42 on the English manual.
I have my NL4 set to respond on channels 2,3,4 and 5 and it works perfectly.

Re: NL4 - Midi Slots in Performance Mode
Thanks Vileza,
I understand that, but what I need to know is do the slots send OUT Midi data on those respective channels. For example, on my current live set up I have a performance per tune whereby, on the NL2 Slot A & B might be set to Midi "Off" and Slot C & D might be set to Midi channel 3 & 4, triggering sounds on the Nord Modular via the NL2 keyboard. In other words I am using the NL2 as a controller keyboard. I am not using a sequencer in my live set up, just the NL2 & Nord Mod. I hope that makes sense?
Cheers.

Re: NL4 - Midi Slots in Performance Mode
According to this post, the NL4 (and A1) transmits keyboard data on the global MIDI channel only.

Re: NL4 - Midi Slots in Performance Mode
Thanks Ricard, that is what I suspected & not what I wanted to hear as it means I cannot use the NL4 in my live set up.
Can anyone verify if this is indeed the case with the NL4? I.e. In the Nord Lead 4 and A1, the keyboard always send on global channel, regardless of slot focus. Global channel is also used to play performances and receive program change in order to change performance from remote host.[/quote]
Cheers.
