Modulation Feature Request

Hi,

I wish it was possible to have a modulator such as LFO1, LFO2, and MOD-Envelope modulate more than one parameter destination at the same time.

i.e. Have LFO1 --> modulate OSC-MOD, PAN, and Filter . LFO2 --> modulate FX, OSC MIX, PW , ...MOD-Env --> Modulate OSC1, OSC2, OSC-Mod

imho. this will provide more options for creative sound design.

Not that it is not possible to get creative with what the NL4 offers currently :) But, with the ability to modulate more than one parameter the possibilities are much more interesting for sound design.

Note : OSC1 and OSC2 are the only two parameters that can be selected at the same time currently, It would be great if we could for example use shift to enable more parameters to be modulated simultaneously (The parameters LEDs stay ON, to indicate that they are being modulated) !

I wonder if this would be possible to do via an OS-Update. ?

I also remember one of the Clavia Reps mentioning that some of the features of the NL A1 might be added to the NL4 via an OS-Update. So, I'm also looking forward to that.

Cheers,
Muziksculp

Yep, imo that's the real weak spot on Leads synthesis structure.
But it doesn't seem to be something cheap and easy to add... :(

Clavia are very hesitant to add functionality that is not visible on the front panel legends. Technically it should not be hard to add more modulation destination combinations, but I think they wouldn't want to do this as it wouldn't go with the 'what you see is what you get' philosophy.

Why do you think that multiple mod destinations would be hidden from the panel?

Like Muzik said, when you select multiple LFO destinations (OSC1+OSC2) on NL4 or NW they are pretty visible on the panel. So Clavia wouldn't deny its "all visible" philosophy by doing this upgrade, imo.

you could just have the second destination LED flash while the other remained steady. that would comply with being visible.

You are right of course, although stepping through all 64 possible combinations of 6 destinations would be a bit of a chore. But it's one of those things that could have been done using the shift button (if the shift button were not already used for something else which I think it is in this case).

I guess you're right.
And Shift button on NL4 is already taken for Keysync and Impulse Sync...:-|

One possible solution would be to have the modulation destination button work as it does today, but if held down, all 64 possible modulation routing combinations could be selected using the dial used for patch selection etc. That way they could keep the current functionality as it is.

Yep but - as you said - the selectable combinations are 64.
I'm afraid that, given this mod matrix interface on NL4, scrolling through every combination everytime would still be very awkward...

I couldn't agree more, since I typically play the NL with one hand only. One really simple solution would be to let the lfo and mod env target the morph feature, that way you could modulate anything...! :-)
