Varying volume for different programs

Dear All, I am relatively new to this - got my Nord about 1 month ago and loving it!
I have a question about volume levels for different instruments/programs. I am in the process of programming the Nord for an upcoming gig and am finding that the volume varies quite significantly between instruments (clav/elec piano seems quieter on full volume than synth/organ on half volume). Obviously I want to avoid changing the master volume and amp levels during the set but want to be able to tweak the instrument volumes. What is the best way to set up pre-gig volume programs? Should I set all at around -5dB to allow me to increase the volume during the gig? What do you do?
Many thanks for your help!

Hi Simon T,

I tried the same thing a couple of years ago. I rented a rehearsal room and took my mixer to measure the sounds via the LED's. To be honest, I gave up after half an hour because I really did not feel it was that worth it and it seemed as though it was going to be an endless task to go thru all 128 x Patches. Unless the sounds were drastically 'out' then I was happy to ride the Master Volume (you know instantly with one strike of a key if it's too loud or quiet). And I liked having (say) a Full Drawbars or Tutti Church Organ to be louder than (say) a Soft FM Pad.

Up to you at the end of the day mate !!

(btw - I am only on a NS Classic so it might differ, but you could try experimenting with the PIANO SECTION 'Key Dynamics' - 1,2 & 3 settings).

Best,

Paul
