Hi,

Just curious to know what is your favorite Drum/Rhythm creation tool , be it software or hardware, or both, that you like using with NL4 ?

Thanks,

Hello,

interesting question, would also like to know what other Nord'ler use for their drumtracks.
My weapon of choice is the "jomox Xbase09". It's got a kind of "earthy & wooden" sound that fits very well with my Nord's. The Xbase got a similar presence as the Nord's and gives the needed punch to compete with them.
But that's also a matter of taste.

Let's all have a nice weekend !

Hi,

I have zero experience with any Jomox products. So, I find it interesting that you like this unit for creating your rhythm tracks with the NL4.

Actually, I think both of the models you posted are discontinued at this time. They have a new model : Jomox XBASE 999 Which I will check out, and see if I like the features, and sounds it offers.

Thanks,

Jomox stuff just (to my ears) has a very dense and punchy tone to their instruments. I'm also a fan of the vermoma drum but don't have the space for it.

Jomox seems to have the same philosophy with their products, as Clavia does. Nearly every parameter got it's own knob to enjoy direct acess and drive as fast as possible to your desired sound. I like that way of thinking. That's in my opinion the best interface for making electronic music.
Yes, Xbase09 & Airbase are discontinued, but sometimes, you can get one on ebay.

Yes, I agree. Direct access to knobs to tweak sounds is so rewarding. This is one of the features I love about the NL4.

Jomox mentions that the new XBASE 999 is an improved version of their older models, but I don't think there are lots of users of this newest model.

Do you feel the XBASE 999 would be a good option (I usually don't like buying used gear). The other options on the market, like the Elektron Rytm, is very cool as well. But a bit more buttons, and menus to deal with, although it has built-in effects, and seems to offer quite a bit of programming features.

I'm trying to decide which one would be a better choice : XBASE 999 or Elektron Analog Rytm ?

Which one would you choose ?

Thanks,

Hi,
i'm very happy with the Xbase09, but the 999 seems not to be very user friendly. some people complain about the software and menu-structure. the sound for sure is one of the best you can get from a drummachine and when you can handle some imponderables..
but if you prefer a more complex sequencer and other features, the 999 doesnt has, then go for the
"Analog four" (did you mean this one?)
I think thats a decision between sound and useability.
But on the other hand, as always, sound is a matter of taste. :)

hope i could help, have a nice day

Well, I found an Arturia Spark on eBay, and I'm pretty pleased with that - it got lots of knobs, and knobs are good;

Nice Video Marlows, I have been tempted to get the SparkLE for quite a while, specially due to its low price. Also, how do you like the Pod? I have also been tempted to grab one used ;)

But back on topic, I have 2 drum sources: a Korg Monotribe, which I think may sound somewhat thin on drums, and my Korg M50. I love the M50 drums, I think they sound great and the rhytms available are endless!!

But as of late I am considering two drum machines for practice, the Korg KRMINI and the Arturia SparkLE. The KR MINI is obviously just a rhytmn accompainment thing, but it has the nice feature of doing fills at your will. Plus its $80 USD new, which is very cheap.
