Thanks

Re: Sound of Pat Metheny
Hi Guillaume,
You are not only asking other forum members to provide you with samples, but also asking them to hunt down this particular song and listen to it to discover what type of sound you are talking about. This is asking quite alot from strangers, even if we are a friendly bunch of people.
You may find it easier to get results of you would add an mp3 to your post which include a 20-30 second long excerpt from this song, making it easier for others to know exactly what it is you're looking for.
Bless,
Pablo

Re: Sound of Pat Metheny
Hi Pablo,
You are right, maybe I ask the impossible.
Here is a link to listen and see a live version of this great song. The Metheny solo begins at 4:59 mn.
Many thanks if you have ideas of sample.

Have you TRANSCRIBED the song yet ?? Don't think it would be too difficult actually as its slow and stays on each chord for a good while.

Re: Sound of Pat Metheny
I have the backing track and the midifile so I can have the score of the solo. I just need a good patch.

Re: Sound of Pat Metheny
I checked my Roland XV5050 and there is a patch on there but it is not very good / suitable. Its called HALL OF PAT.
But on the Roland JV2080 there is a patch LETTERS FROM PAT (presumably a joke on Postman Pat !!) which is very good and close to what you want. I am sure it was an Internal sound but it could possibly have been on one of the Expansion Cards (not the ARX or SRX but the format before those two). In any case, the patch is definitely there I can promise you !!

Re: Sound of Pat Metheny
Thank you Monsterjazzlicks.
I saw there is a patch called "pats GR-300" on the SR-JV80-04 "vintage synth" expansion card, wich is also on the SR-JV80-98 "Experience II" card. I could listen a demo on the web here: http://www.synthmania.com/sr-jv80-98.htm (patch 13)
Is it the same sound you found ?
I would like to find it in nsmp or vst format.

Re: Sound of Pat Metheny
Hi again,
It's a little tricky to tell because the demonstration is full of fast playing and pitch-bends. But if I had to say, then I think the one on the INTERNAL MEMORY (Letters From Pat) was better and sounded 'fuller'. Roland do often duplicate patches from various libraries across their SR-cards which is why you are seeing PATS GR300 twice. But to my memory, they do NOT rename the patches.
Requesting it in a vst format, my only guess would be to see if there is a JV2080 vst version of this module available ??

Re: Sound of Pat Metheny
I will have another look thru my XV5050 module. If there is anything suitable then I might be able to record the part for you as 'audio' if you sent me the midi-file and I imported it into Cubase. I have an SRX expansion card which (if you are lucky !) something similar might be on.
