Hi,

I have a question about the programs associated with a piano library sample. I just got a Nord Electro 4 HP and installed the Italian Grandi in place of the Bright Grand sample. When I look at the program tab in the Sound Manager, it still shows the Bright Grand program name. I realize it is playing the Italian Grand sample but the program parameters are those for the Bright Grand.

Should I also load whatever programs exist for the Italian Grand and if so, how do I put those in the program section. Or is it a situation where the programs are relatively straight forward and I should just tweak the Bright Grand one to my liking and rename it.

In a related note, when I start going through the Sample Library portion, if I want to make significant changes to the factory contents, will the appropriate programs load when I load in a new sample set. Thanks for your help as I am still getting used to the Nord environment.

To the best of my knowledge you can only tweak the FX & EQ.
Nord electro doesn't really have a synth type ADSR to change the sound.
I don't use the sound manager enough to comment on it off the top of my head

Essentially regard the Nord system as simple. If you load a sample, you load a sample, that's it. You've used the recently-implemented "replace" function, previously deleting a piano and replacing it with another would result in lots of broken program slots that used the older piano.

For me, loading a particular program for a piano isn't that important, as you're not changing things like strike points, soundboard simulations etc. as you are on some other keyboards. You have a sample, you activate long release / resonance as you desire, you tweak the EQ to your desired sound, and add your desired type and amount of reverb. FX if you want them. I can do all that myself to meet my own needs, so loading programs with that already in seems a little pointless. And as I can't see the settings of the knobs in a program on the Electro, I don't know what EQ settings are being used - I'd rather experiment and learn it myself, then save the good results.

Programs as a means of gaining different sounds are far more important on something like the Stage where you can layer multiple pianos etc. Of course I still use them to switch between different patches, but not to import alongside particular samples, or at least not the piano ones.

Regarding samples, the appropriate programs don't load unless you load them specifically. If you load a sample, that's all you've done. If you delete a sample, its programs will still exist, but won't work. On the one hand this can be annoying, but I prefer this to some automated system deciding for me what to load in or delete.
