Question about the first gen nord?
I have been given the opportunity to buy a first gen Nord for $600. He claimed I can download patched off the site, is this true? Also since a used nord 3 would run around $1500, would paying $800 more for the 3 really justify the expense?
I'd be playing in a five piece rock band if that helps.

Please to be sure of what you are going to embark into, find out exactly what model and what size. "First gen Nord" is not very descriptive. NE3 is not the latest one either, so it is not clear what you are asking.

Re: Question about the first gen nord?
The original Nord Electro does not have an updated o/s - at least, there isn't one on the Clavia website. The earliest model listed is the second release, the Nord electro 2.
The original Electro was quite limited while the 3 is streets ahead and probably the best value Electro now it's been replaced by the new 4.

In Wales, no one will hear you scream.

Re: Question about the first gen nord?
It's is the first nord electro. So.... Not e4, not e3, not e2.....61 key size. I play live and would buy a stage, but I'm reasonably happy with my Casio Privia for horns and episodes and piano.... Casio has gotten much better! Unf the organs are pathetic so hence my need for an electro.
I guess what I'm really asking is : Are the organ sounds on a gen 2 or gen 3 really worth my paying $1500 vs $600 for the Nord Electro gen one.
Hope that clears up the confusion.

Re: Question about the first gen nord?
Electro 1 and Electro 2 sound engines are identical. $600 is a very good price for Electro if it's in good shape. I'd snap it up in a "New York Minute."

Re: Question about the first gen nord?
The electro "one" and electro 2 are the same instrument, only software differs. The reason that there's no software for the "one" on the clavia site is because the software for the 2 is fully compatible with it, and installing the latest software for the 2 on a "one" turns it into a 2 in every respect.
