Nord Drum 2 questions
Nord Drum 2 questions
Hello,Im totally new to this particular module, and was wondering if anyone could help.
Is it possible to copy the sound of trigger channel 1 to trigger channel 2? I only managed to copy the whole kit and to another kit or program location.
Does anyone have some idea for create a great metal kick drum sound? I mean how to set all the sound parameters to create one.
Im going to trigger acustic bassdrums from this module, but would you say that the Nord Drum 1 is better aimed at that, and is the trigger response better on the ND2 than ND1?
Thank you very much for your time
-Jan

Re: Nord Drum 2 questions
Hi Jan, welcome!
Copy and Paste functions let you copy the sound of one channel to another, either within the same program (kit) or to another, (page 17 of ND2 manual, or page 13 of ND1 manual) simply select a channel, press Shift+Copy, then go to the destination channel and press Shift+Paste
Perhaps someone else here has more experience with metal, when I hear metal kicks, I usually don't hear much more than loud clicks
. You're going to use an acoustic trigger, your ND will have to blend in with the acoustic sound (unless your kick is completely muffled), just experiment a lot with tone, decay, frequency, and click parameters. With both ND1 and 2 you can make a nice deep kick sound with a good punch, or sharp attack if you want- and if that is the only thing you're looking for, ND1 is enough; you don't need stereo for a kick drum for example.
I don't know if there is any difference between ND1, and 2 in terms of latency, I actually never noticed any lag so far with both of them.. did you with your ND2?
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Nord Drum 2 questions
Thank you very much Albert!!!
I have allready today created some good ones, and actually it doesnt have to be a metal kick sound, but any punchy and prominent kick would be good. Just to get a great starting point. I just love how this module let you create own sounds from scratch!
But of course I ran into another question,
is it possible to route kicks to one of the outputs and say a snare,or all other channels to the other output? Just to get the FOH sound engineer total separation?
In terms of trigger response, this must be the fastest and most acurate module Ive tried!!! Very impressive!
Thank you very much again, and cheers from Norway!

Great! Good to hear!
Yes you can, with ND2 you can pan your bassdrum all the way to the left, (or right) and snare/other sounds all the way to the other side..

Re: Nord Drum 2 questions
I have recently bought the Nord Drum 2 and the Nord Pad. Does anyone know how to create a handclap-sound?
Thanx!
Best regards - Rune MS

Re: Nord Drum 2 questions
Hi,
Yes, try the Noise attack parameters!
Edit: I meant the Noise Env mode and Rate settings
e.g
Noise filter: 22.bP
Rate 12, Env mode CL,
Decay 7.L
and add some distortion
