Nord Sample Editor - Changing tune without changing tempo ?

Post by YvesEchoes »

Hi ! :)

First of all, sorry for my english ...

I'd like to know if it possible, when creating a sample with the Nord Sample Editor, to map a sound on the keyboard without changing the termpo of the original wav file ?

I have a little cello sample, about 2 seconds extracted from a song, and I assigned it to the C2. But of course, when I'm mapping it to the first octave, the pitch is changed, the sample is played higher AND faster, and my sample that was 2 seconds on the C is 1,5 seconds on the G.

I there a possibilitie to get the same sample, played higher but with the same tempo, using the Nord Sample Editor ?

If it's not possible, do yo know a soft that can do that easily ?

great thanx for your answers !!! :)

Yves.

Do you mean changing the pitch without changing the lenght? If so, I doubt the electro can do it by itself, so you better use an external editor and make a sample for each note.

Hi,
There is no way to do this in the nse.
You would have to change pitch while keeping speed of your sample e.g. In Audacity, and then import the samples to different keys in nse.
I agree an option in the nse would be nice, but my guess is it would be to computing intensive for doing it in real time this not feasible.

Using different pitched samples, at least two per octave, weil however increase the size of the nsmp significantly.

thanx !

indeed I think that I must use an external editor that would be able to do that, do you know an editor that could do this simply, without having to studie the manual during 3 weeks ... :? :D

with audacity, it seems easy to change the tempo without changing the pitch, but I didn't get how to change the pitch without changing the tempo.

Asd is nice to learn a song or play along, not sure you can export the files though.
You CAN do it in Audacity, but have to check how exactly when back to a pc.
Wavelab for sure can also do it, but it ain't free...

Okay, thank you !

so, if you are SURE that Audacity can do that, I'm going to try to find out how :)

I don't know ASD, I'm also going to take a look on it !

OK, of course you were right Johannes :)

Audacity can do that, with an effect called "changer la hauteur".

thanx for your precious help !
