Re: KEYS NORD STAGE EX COMPACT
Admittedly, asking on a Nord Forum might get you biased responses ;-)
But the NS EX is certainly a good keyboard. The Keys are not Piano alike for sure. But they are different from the Electro (it has aftertouch which alone implies a different keybed). Personally, I prefer the Compact's keybed by far over the Electro's. It feels more weighted than the Electro. But I admit that for very dynamic Piano parts it is hard to get the pianissimo parts played well. For that a weighted Board is superior. In the end, the best is to play one in a store!!
PS. If you don't mind, could you use lower case in the future?
And welcome on-board!

Re: KEYS NORD STAGE EX COMPACT
The NS Compact for me is the best.
If you are going to play a lot organ and pad/synth, the weighted keys are not good.
For pianos the weighted is the best.

Re: KEYS NORD STAGE EX COMPACT
Yeah welcome to the forum
The Stage Compact EX is a great keyboard. The keys are similar to the Nord Electro, but there is aftertouch also which makes it somewhat different though. I like the Stage Compact keys more than the Electro keys.
The keys are in my opinion:
Great for: Organ, Synth and Clavinet.
Good for: Rhodes and Würlitzer
and just okay for: Piano.
I have gotten used to play piano on it, so I don't mind it so much, but weighted is better for piano.
Another good thing about the compact is that it only weight 9.7 kilos. I always carry my Compact around on the bus and train.

Re: KEYS NORD STAGE EX COMPACT
I think the Electro keys are fine for organ but terrible for piano. I think the Stage NON-compact (76/88) keys are good for piano and *still* good for organ/synth, more so than most other weighted boards are. But yeah, it's a lot more weight to carry around.

Yes it is the same keys on the Compact and the electro. But the Stage Compact also has aftertouch, which makes the keys a little different.

Re: KEYS NORD STAGE EX COMPACT
Agreed. The mere fact that the NS has aftertouch with the additional sensors makes it a but more spongey and gives it a softer bottom out. Some people seem to dislike this effect in particular for Piano playing, personally, I prefer it this way as it feels in general a bit more solid than the Electro's IMHO.
