I can not connect my synthesizer into the input of M-AUDIO OZONIC to record. I had to record with a microphone, but it's not the best option. there is only two variants Insert for instrument and Unbalanced line 4 and 3. but in both cases there is no signal and no sound. I tried the stereo to mono adapter, but it did not help too. maybe I need a mixer or other kind of soundcard? Is there a difference if I try M-AUDIO - Solo? or I need something else?

There must be some way of controlling the input levels, perhaps?
Are all the inputs enabled?
Is it only one synth or any instrument that does not work?
Is the output of the synth enabled? Are the cables functional?
Can you hear with the headphones?
Hope these questions help you to sort it out.
