Electro 3 obsolete?

I'm saving up for a Nord Electro. I can afford the 3, and it seems like everything I could want. However, I'm afraid that, with the release of the Electro 4, the OS updates and the access to the piano and sample libraries won't be available much longer for the E3.

Can anyone confirm or abate this concern?

Also, sorry if a similar post is already on here somewhere, but I couldn't find one.
Thanks a lot for your help!

At least wait for Namm! I didn't before buying my C2! http://www.namm.org

 But we may have a better idea what Nord may do! Or then again maybe not. I bought my C2 Dec last year. Then the C2D was announced!

The Electro 3 certainly isn't obsolete, however I wouldn't expect to receive too many more software updates in the future (if at all), unless some major bugs are reported by users. Changing the Piano Library format is a possibility, but rather unlikely - especially if it happened to alienate users of older boards.

I have an Electro 2 and Electro 3 (both SW73) at home, and am strongly considering the purchase of the recently announced Electro 4 SW73. However, I'm also waiting to see if Korg announce the SV-2 at NAMM in a couple of weeks time.

Cheers,
James

Hm, that's a good point...
Do you think it's a possibility that the E3 will become obsolete?
One representative of North American distribution told me that the E3 was here to stay, (I'm just trying to get a few opinions, I guess, ha) because the E2 wasn't capable of sharing in the libraries in the first place. That that's why they made the E3 in the first place... does that make sense?

Cool, thank you James. That's also helpful. I just wonder if it's worth saving the $200 or so, as opposed to the 4D 61. (It's seeming like it might not be.)

Just a feeling, but I can see the NE3 being discontinued shortly. Just a feeling mind you! The more up to date instrument you get the longer it will be supported.

That's true. The 4D is making more sense all the time. I also didn't realize until recently that the price difference between the NE3 and NE4D wasn't that big.
Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate your help in the matter!
