Hi everybody.
Im a graphic design student from Denmark. As my final exam I'm doing a study of the Nord keyboards' identity. As a part of my work I'm doing a lot of research, to get to know the brand and it's values.
What is your opinion is on the Nord brand and it's product? And what do you think Nord does better/or worse than other keyboard manufactures?
I really hope you can help me getting to know the brand a little more
Best regards
Steffen

Wow. That question could get you opinions the size of novels from the gearheads on this forum

I'll try to give you the points I feel are most important.
Better than others
- Built for performance (playing rather than programming).
- Rock solid quality.
- Musical sounds.
- Lots of knobs = quick access to the important stuff
- Red.
- Born in Stockholm. Like me.

Worse than others
- Built for performance (playing rather than programming).
- Limited functionality.
- Puny display.

Not that it matters too much, but I am curious: are you doing this under Nord's knowledge?
I wondered whether any brand would be happy of being criticised and bashed publicly as the Nord identity seems to be something that they already have worked out very successfully by themselves.
By the way, there is no need to post the above in every forum, as there is an "off topic" forum for matters like these.

Producing superb gigging instruments.
Supporting their community of users with software updates and new samples etc.
Best of luck with your project!

All stuff you probably know: Nord, is well known for it's red keboard's and their great funtionality.
1.Nord started its reputation in 1995 - 1998 with the creation of the nord lead, the very first vitual analog synth.
2.Since then they have applied their expertise to Organ, Synth, Digital piano and even drum machines.
3.Their instrument's are focused on the performing artist.<(most Obvious)
Overall Nord has,so to speak "sold themselves" to the world,
My opinion:I have an Ex and find it fit's my need's very well.It gives me 3 Organ model's great for a gig or stage performance.A NICE LESLIE TOUCH is provided. The acoustic Piano's have a very natural timbre. Not to start a whole disscusion over, but compared to other keyboard's in the same range nord's have far more piano variety. For example The nord sample library includes sampled piano's from Yamaha's to Bosendofers.Nord also samples uprights which seem to be lacking in other keboard's.The electric Grand's include a CP-80 and a custom electric grand with CP-80 pickup's.Their are also good electric piano's,a wurly and a clavinet.Nord get's 10 point's for their effect's section. It's even improved in the stage 2!.Even the relatively simple synth section gives me the funtionality needed for Crushing synth lead's and bass's
and even soft flowing pad's.
agree?

I have personally welcomed several academic investigations about the company I work for; they can sometimes provide valuable input. To me, it's probable that Clavia would also welcome it.
And to be honest: there is quite a bit of Nord bashing going on even among us loyal followers...

Nord means efficiency and quality.
Everything falls under the hands and sounds "alive".
... plus you can touch wood (pitch bend) and rock (the
resin wheel) while playing
