Hi all I just saw this on the Nord website.
http://www.nordkeyboards.com/main.asp?tm=Home
Nord at the NAMM Show 2011

2011-01-03If there ever was a must to play a new Nord keyboard this is the right time! Welcome to Booth 6464 (American Music & Sound).

Do you think a Stage 2 is on the way? Or another keyboard? Or am I reading too much into this sentence?

Speculate :)

EDIT:
Clavia changed the writing:

who knows what clavia may bring.

It will definitely NOT be an upgrade to the C2, I hope.

If anything it could be:
Nord Stage 2
An upgrade to the Nord Wave
A new tabletop synth
A rack version of either the Wave or the Stage
A continuation to the G2

That´s many possibilities!!! I am definitely looking forward to this NAMM, plus we also got the misterious kronos from Korg

I'm still paying month by month my nord stage 76 EX..... :-)
but , thinking about the fact that Classic Nord Stage users still have the possibility to load newest piano sound...hope the support will be alive for a resonable lack of time...
and , actually , I don't imagine a ns 2...I mean...if you can load samples , it doesn't make sense to sell nord wave or nord electro 3 .....unless there is a hudge difference in the price....
and,if they double sample memory , why buy a nord piano?!?
and a new NS with new usb (midi like) , or with a new organ engine would make sense? don't think so...
after all...is just speculation......
what you think about that?

Yeah I understand what you mean. It might be bad business for Clavia to make a NS2, but I'm personally still hoping for it, as my NS classic is falling behind the other nords. And I really just want an all-in-one-keyboard, I'm not interested in buying 3-4 keyboards to get it all, so there might be money to get from people like me in a NS2.

Though the more I think about the sentence on the nord website, I think they just mean people could come down and try out a "new" Nord keyboard. Like as in if you haven't tried the Nords out yet. But I personally would not call them "new".

We'll just have to wait and see. :)

Have fun all.

EDIT:

Actually they changed the writing so there might be a new keyboard after all:

OK i understand your hopes, but the fact is that NS classic is not current Nord model, it is Stage EX witch is competitive with other models.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it would make no sense to change it.

Wave would need a reconstruction, but my hopes goes for Modular G3, G2 is wonderful instrument, actually so wonderful nobody is selling his, I'm looking to buy one for a whole year and nothing...
But if G3 comes out, my waiting was worthy :D ...I'm crossing my fingers :D

As far the Clavia goes I'm a little disappointed, i have three theirs products (Stage EX, Electro 3 and Wave) and MY opinion is that they should present to US (loyal customers) their new product.
I know that Namm is a show, but it is only a show...

First post here by the way.

It's hard to speculate upon what keyboard they refer to, when all our knowledge have to based on that tiny sentence. I have thought a little bit about that sentence, it made me really curious. Here's some of the vague thoughts I have about Clavia at the NAMM Show.

1. The release of a completely new keyboard (e.g. not just a new Nord Electro)
2. Continuing some of their discontinued products, with updated features, e.g. the Modular G2.
3. A big update for some of the old products.
4. New model, like a new Wave or smthng.
5. They release nothing new and the sentence was just referring to that people should come and try their keyboards, and eventually find the keyboard of their dreams.

Is the NAMM show big?

I would think so, together with the Musikmesse they are THE important events in the music instruments industry, so the NAMM is always good for some big news!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NAMM_Show
Only DISADVANTAGE: It is not open to the public (unlike the Messe where on the last day it is open to everyone)
Personally, I have no idea of what to expect. Now what I really liked to see would be a fusion of all Nord goodies:
Nord Piano keybed & Piano Section, C2 organ engine, Nord Stage Effects Section, Nord Wave Synth Engine.

Technically, I am not sure that is feasible - just imagine the number of knobs!!!
But from a business perspective point of view, this seems to me pretty unrealistic as it would compete (mainly?) against Nord's other products. Moreover, it would go against the Nord philosophy of creating instruments for specific market niches.

But: who knows and will be curious to find out what they come up with! I would bet on a G3.

Hi...
What if the new Nord is a Nordstation? LOL....I like the name instead of workstation.
Something to fight against motif's, fantom's, triton's.....
Kurzweil is in the fight now with the new PC3K8, so maybe Clavia want's to give it a try.

I realy hope they will finaly release a Nord Stage 2. Nordstage are supposed to be their flagship but nowadays Nord Electro 3 has some realy good functions missing in their flagship.

They have had some time to develop a new Nord Stage as the upgrade to Nords Stage EX was a pretty smal upgrade with just a facelift and more memory.

I'm afraid that if they don't have a new Nord Stage this time. Many Nord Stage users may feel betrayed. So I just think we have to wait and see... :)
