Heh, turned on my mac today and it worked!mjbrands wrote:From what I see you do in Live, it seems to me you've got Live set up the right way. If you send MIDI to your NR3, do you hear anything on the headphone output?
Assuming you hear something via the headphone output, I think the most likely two causes are:
- incorrect routing in NR3 settings
- 'weird' mixer settings on the Scarlett
If the headphone output also doesn't produce any sound, are you sending on the right MIDI channel?
Erm, weird - oh well, let's not complain it's workingJibbesander wrote:Heh, turned on my mac today and it worked!
Did the exact same thing as yesterday!
You can set up your NR3 in such a way that different slots listen to different MIDI channels. For example, you could set slots 1-3 to the same MIDI channel (using a detuned version of the same sound) for the lead and set slot 4 to a different channel for the bass line. If you then send MIDI to the first channel, slots 1-3 will play (regardless of whether they're enabled on the front panel) just as only slot 4 will play if you send MIDI to the second channel. For bonus points, you can setup the NR3 to route the sound of slots 1-3 to outputs 1+2 and set up slot 4 to send the output to outputs 3+4. If you then connect the NR3 to your Scarlett using all four outputs, the lead and the bass sound would be available in Live on completely separate channels.Jibbesander wrote:But i have another question:
If i want to use my NR3 on two or more different tracks(bass, lead, pad) how do i do that?
Most likely this is caused because all slots are listening on the same MIDI channel.Jibbesander wrote:If i do that everything plays when i hit play.
What do you mean exactly here?Jibbesander wrote:Lets say i have a bassline on 0:40 that starts 0:00.
Provided you send the audio back into Live, a real instrument works pretty much like a VST. There is one important difference though.Jibbesander wrote:I've never used hardware, just vst.
So im sorry if this is obvious.
Dude, thanks ALOT!mjbrands wrote:Wall of text
Glad to hear thatJibbesander wrote:Dude, thanks ALOT!mjbrands wrote:Wall of text![]()
That was very, very helpfull!
I still don't get it. In the picture from KVR your posted, I can see the MIDI clip for synth bass starting around 0:22 (as you say). But you also say 'the bass also starts'. Do you mean some other bass sound than 'synth bass' or do you mean it start way before 0:22?Jibbesander wrote: Oh, and the 0:40 thing.
Look at this picture and spot the "synth bass".
The midi clip starts at 0:22 seconds, but if i try to play the full song from the beginning, the bass also starts, even if its not any midi clip there!
Not my pic btw
