Hello everyone! I just joined this forum because I'm looking for some information for a long time, but I can not find
I have NS2 and would like to create the sound of Synth in Stormbringer studio version
I'm not an expert of synthesizers, and I'm trying to make, but I can not in any way!
I ask for help to experts in the forums!
Thank you all!

I just spend some minutes creating this sound for you on my NS2, I hope you like it:

This is what it sounds like, please excuse the inaccuracies and my sloppy playing, I've never played this lick before:

Hi,

Welcome to the forum !

There is a little analog sound at the beginning of the recording you gave, it sounds lile a "Saw", with some resonance, a LP24 with LFO on it, a short amp env attack, a medium decay.

Thank you for the excellent patch AlexNagel! And thanks to frantzkb for the explanation!
AlexNagel, when you have time, can you tell me the steps to get to that sound? What parameters have changed and how ... so that even I can understand how to work on certain sounds! Thank you very much!

Milord, I'm glad you like the sound. I don't have the time to go in details, it's basically a detuned (root + fifth, 7 hafltones above) saw sound if I remember it correctly, don't have my NS2 here right now. Add a lowpass filter with resonance controlled by envelope, and some velocity sensitivity for the filter and the envelope. That's about i :-)

You can see every paramter I changed in the display if you press "SHIFT" plus the knob you want to know the value of. Doing this you can set all the knobs to their actaul position and learn how they change the sound.

By the way, the synth part of the original track is almost panned hard to one channel (the right one?), so by only listening to this one channel of the stereo recording you can hear the original sound nearly alone without guitars, drums etc. - this really helps finding the right sound.

Alex

Hi everyone, I'm taking up this old post again because I can't reproduce the sound of this synth well on a Nord Stage 3. Could you give me some advice please?

Thank you all

Hi and welcome to NUF,

I suggest you load the NS2 patch into the (excellent) Nord Stage File Viewer https://ns3-program-viewer.cyclic.app/ and check all parameters (you'll probably need to use the Mix SAW OSC configuration on NS3 synth, to be able to blend a second OSC tuned one fifth above)

Thank you, I didn't know there was this possibility :yourock:
