Music learning process

Hello,
I'd like to know if, among the great musicians we have on the forum, some of you could give some guidance on how to improve one's music skills, what are the most valuable references, good websites/forums to read ?
Nothing replaces experience (practice / listening / trying / playing with others), but the idea here is to talk on the methods/references that could help to maximize the learning process : be more efficient in learning tunes, get more pleasure/freedom while playing.
I'll give my modest contribution and hope great answers will enlight this topic !
Here is what I would recommend to read, I think it's short and efficient and applies to every musician (not only jazz) :
- Jamey Aebersold - The Jazz Handbook
- Mark Levine - The Jazz Piano Book
- http://forums.allaboutjazz.com/
Here what "guides" me these days in my "continuous music learning process" :
- I try to choose my tunes carefully and work on the functionnal aspect of harmony on each tune to understand them and memorize patterns that I can apply on different tunes.
And you ?
