FM Piano

Hi folks,

after selling my old NS76 classic and getting a new NS2-88, my old favorite DX-7/FM piano patch patch doesn't work anymore, so I built a new one sampling a nice FM piano patch of my KORG R3 synth (called "VPM EP").

This is the result:
(FYI: In the second half of the demo mp3 I layered the FM piano with an electric grand sound.)

Hope you like it!

Alex (who's deeply in love with his new red toy ;-)

EDIT: In the first version of this was a small error, I just uploaded a new version! Thanks to tomzi!

Hi Alex,

super Sound. Ist das bei dir auch so, wenn man ihn etwas länger aushält, hört man einen leichten "Knackser"?

Grüße

Tom

Hi guys,

as tomzi just found out there was a small clicking sound in one of the samples I used. I corrected this and uploaded a new version of the sound.

Nice Patch, thanks a lot Alex!! Surprised it comes from the R3, not a Synth I would have considered a first row source of a FM EP, but sounds great!

hehe, and that Peter Cetera tune made me smile, must have been literally 15 years I did not hear this song, and that was a funny movie... ;-)

BTW, indeed a "favorite" patch - by far the most downloaded Nord Stage patch (>500) on this forum

Hi Alex,

Frequency Modulation.

It's the digital synthesis engine that the DX7 was built upon, and the hallmark DX7 sounds are often referred to as "FM" sounds, as they are typical for this type of synthesis.
