We were so happy, wow, Nord Drum! You can trigger a Kick sound and a hihat sound - LIVE!

our guitar player likes to trigger a kick and hihat with his feet with triggers - and so far we used a Roland Hansonic for the samples, which I always thought sound crap. Pleased I was to find out about the Nord drum, it would sound a lot better!
we were in madrid with the band (touring) and the shop owner of Nord gear was so cool to come with his first Nord drum unit to sound check - we were all seriously disappointed to find out the device is mono.

seriously.. mono? no way to pan two different sounds? I sort of expect this to have 4 outs...

how much is nord saving on leaving extra outputs off? I would gladly pay more, if it were at least stereo.

I was there at the Musikmesse Frankfurt 2012 and I asked the Nord guy about this mono thing: why just mono? His guess was that first analog machines were mono and ND is kind of recreation of them... Come on, we don't need to go back in every aspect.

But then they say this ND is targeted to performers with no need to special stereo pan. Again so wrong thinking. Of course stereo panning is good to have but also it's necessary to mix them separately. At least bass drum needs special mix.

Then this four-channel thing. Our drummer might want to use his Roland SPD-S as a midi controller. So he can only use four pads of his 8. Forget it. I could tolerate this four-channel thing if it was just about four trigger inputs. But if I am right, this 4 is all you get via MIDI also, right? Amazingly stupid.

Why I am so angry about this? Simply because it seems to be a great sounding little machine with these stupid limitations. Without them, we would already have it and basically ND is something that we were looking for to expand our live setup. Nord team has totally lost their minds when inventing it.
