Nord Piano 2 and MIDI

Hi everyone, and thanks for contributing to such a useful forum!

I'm considering the NP2. The main reason is actually an unforeseen need for Mellotron sounds in my live rig, and it seems that buying this and selling my Roland FP-4 is the option that makes the most sense (and is most cost-efficient). I notice that the NP2 has a piano part and a synth part, and that these can be layered or split. My question is, is it possible to trigger one of these parts with a MIDI controller while playing the other one on the NP2?

After reading through the manual, I don't believe that's possible. That functionality seems to be reserved for the Stage 2.

Welcome to the forum, hopefully someone else can chime in with first-hand knowledge.

Hi I think you have to divide your NP2 as your controller and assign sounds, that you keep in a memory a-b. for live use. ie, right hand, from the C3 to G8 .. STRING. and left hand from C1 to B3 piano. OK.

I was thinking about buying a NP2... I like the sounds, the action, and the access to the Nord Sample Library... my main hesitation was the weight. But learning that you can't trigger its sample section from another board while playing a piano sound from its own keybed makes it far less appealing. Secondarily, I also would have liked it to be able to transmit on different MIDI channels on either side of a split.
