Nord Stage 2 organ section upgrade

To all appearances the swedish guys made real improvments concerning the new NE4D organ section. I would get a great present from Clavia : I'd like to load on Stage 2 the same organ improvments by the next OS upgrades. Mission Impossible?

Well, in the past, major upgrades to the organ model were never available, they always required buying a new board, implying that a lot of the organ engine is simply fixed in ROM. But then again, they did end up adding Long Release to the original Nord Piano, that was a pleasant surprise, so who knows...

More likely not part of Clavia's product placement strategies, etc. The software is stored in flash, but there might be technical reasons why some things might not be possible on the NS2 (though I expect financial/strategic reasons to outweigh technical ones).

I doubt all the software is stored in flash, as it would make the board unnecessarily more expensive. It would not make sense to spend the money to put the organ engine in flash unless they intended to make downloadable updates for it. The fact that they have never made such organ updates available in previous models leads me to believe it's not in rewritable flash to begin with... that is, to put the organ engine in flash and not provide updates would mean they made an expensive design decision for no reason. So while they may be able to patch certain parameters, I think the basic organ engine has always been basically fixed. But it would be a pleasant surprise to find that that has changed and that the NS2 organ is upgradable. I wouldn't hold my breath, though!

They really need to upgrade the rotory simulation on the NS2 though. It is even a step down from the one in NS1. The organ itself is very nice, but the rotary sim not so much imo. I hope we either get a new, or get the option of switching to previous versions. The NE3/C1 was alot better if I recall correctly.

I'd like to see the pipe organ from C2 in NS2... do you think Clavia can implement it in a future software upgrade?

I hate the rotary sim on the NS2.

It's awful.

I regret selling my NS ex for that reason.

Probably there's not gonna be a organ update for the NS2 and I think that is very very sad.

Now, I've bought the "flagship" keyboard to get the best and now all the other users of NE and C2 has a better hammond organ. I don't think that's fair and what makes me a little irritated about this is that it's not the first time Clavia do this to the NS users. When they came up with the upgraded leslie emulation in the C2 and NE3, it took some time before the NS user got this.

I mean, this new organ must have been in development for some time. Probably at the same time they were working on the new NS2. Wouldn't it be smart then to add some extra space for a future organ version?

Don't miss understand me. I like my NS2 and Clavia but this time a feel a bit disappointed if we're not getting the new organ.

I totally agree with you.

I also bought the FLAGSHIP to have the verry best Nord keyboard, with the best B3 simulation they have.
But clearly there is a betther organ model now... It's cool they have, but i'm afraid they can't solve it with
an OS upgrade. I believe it really is another kind of hardware.

Nothing is ever the best for long. I'm sure that if the new organ was ready a year ago, it would have been in the NS2. I'm glad they didn't delay the NS2 for a year while they worked on the new organ. And I bet they're working on other new things we won't have, too. C'est la vie.

Could they have built the NS2 so that the organ would be upgradeable (assuming it isn't)? Possibly, if it doesn't require additional hardware, and we don't know whether that's the case. But even so, we don't know what it would have cost to build in that upgradability, or if they even knew a year ago exactly what they would need for this thing that did not yet exist. It's not just a matter of building in this generic thing you're calling "space."

All you can do is buy the best thing available for your needs at the time you need it. No matter what it is, it is likely there will be something better before long, but it doesn't make what you got any less good.
