An E7 61 arrived …

Post by ElectroStrat »

Hello all,
Just wanted to share my thoughts before and my feelings after the purchase.
I was mainly interested in the new synth and effects features of the E7 but disappointed by the lack of pitch stick and mod wheel on the 61 version and the removal of the piano soft release.
I went to my music shop last Saturday and tried a Stage 4. Well, I don’t like the stiffness of the pitch stick and its ugly big hole in the panel (what a good dust collector !). I much prefer the pitch wheel of my Take 5.
My hesitation for a new and more compact keyboard than my current E6 73 disappeared.

I got my E7 61 two days ago and I really like it.
In addition to the obvious new features, there are a lot of small improvements that make it very enjoyable : dedicated buttons for rotary (slow, fast, stop) and percussion (volume, decay, harmonics) … And no regrets for the mod wheel as it can be replaced by an expression pedal.

So far, so good. I’m waiting for the arrival of the Triple Pedal to try the additional piano features.
If the E7 was a bit cheaper, it would have been perfect :-) !

How does the 'improved" B3 sound? A noticeable improvement?

The improvements come from the rotary speaker.
I can hear the difference between the microphone positions.
Also, the rotary is now independent from the amp speaker / compressor effect.
So you can combine the rotary speaker with the amp speaker if you want.

Regarding the raw B3 sound, I haven’t noticed a big difference.
However, as mentioned earlier, on the E7, there are dedicated buttons for the percussion volume and decay.
So it’s much easier / convenient to compare the sound difference.
On the E6, there is a single button to select the various combinations of these 2 settings.
