NS3 Output by Program

Post by Freerskier »

You can set output (and sub outputs) to GLOBAL or per PROGRAM - selected in the system menu. This is good as I have a couple of programs where I don't want to use the GLOBAL settings. Looking good.

Per the manual. "In Program mode, output routings are stored with each individual program." Awesome, this is looking good as this is my goal.

So, changed the setting in the system menu to PROGRAM. That was a cinch.

On the next page (54) it states "In Program mode a manual Store operation is needed in order for
changes to Output Routing settings to be saved". Makes, sense you are updating the program, just like anything else, but output setting for just that program.

I am now tweaking the program - but cant find where in the program you find the page to change the output settings. Scoured the manual in sections relating to editing PROGRAMS and cant find something like "this is where you change the output setting for just this program. If you want to set outputs globally go to System Setup, see page NN" - Something like that. I was then expecting an image of a screen/page a bit like the output settings in that main system set up section. Also checked the interweb (some AI answers referenced PAN/BUS settings but again no actual explanation/image) + the first 6 pages of forum topics ( :yourock: ) when searching output. S

I am thinking I must have totally missed something here so massive apologies if this is really simple. So, where do you adjust the outputs just for that PROGRAM after setting outputs to PROGRAM in the system menu. I also may have misunderstood what setting outputs by PROGRAM actually means rather than my assumption that it would be within a program edit itself.

It should be easier than you may think:

In System Menu, p.6, you can select between global and per-program output settings. The following p. 7 in that very menu will then either remain the same for every program or change settings for every single program you select.

So, what you will need to do: file through all programs while being in System Menu p. 7 and change output settings to your liking.

Ah, I think I am getting it. I saw that on Page 7 and thought "but I am in the system menu, not within a program".

So,really it seems like a second 'global' setting as then your customized output settings apply to every program? You cant actually have different output setting for A:11, then a different one for A:12.

Re-read your reply and the important snippet is "file through all programs while being in System Menu p. 7 and change output settings to your liking". That seems like a lot of work, but could be work worth it. Or I split the main output to feed the effect (vocoder) and have a mute switch on the pedal board with it. Hmmm.... Or use my SkPro as there you can have a section within each individual combination only go out of a selected individual out.

It's only either global or individual, there is no feature like: globally X if not changed individually to Y. And you are right: Finding the settings for individual programs in System Menu is not very intuitive.

An update that won’t happen.

But I wonder if I switch to program outputs in the system menu, adjust the outputs for the program I want but don’t go through the rest - just leave them be. A gues would be theybinherit what was there. I’ll try a couple of tests.
