Hi all!
I've been struggling with my NS2 for a while now to get a nice "rock n roll piano sound" but can't really get the sound I want. What I want is a really distinct and heavy sound (a little hard to explain) I had a Roland FP7 a couple of years ago with a really nice program called Rock Piano which I really liked.
In my band we play a lot of boogie woogie based music. I've tried both grands and uprights with various settings but it hard to say which one that is the most suitable for this kind of music. Maybe the sound of our PA has something to do with it?
Does anyone have a nice program to share perhaps?
BR

You could try in the effect section to boost the high mediums, for example freq on 2k and mid to +10. You can disable amplifiers simulators part and just keep the equalizer. (you can use any piano type)
Then you can enhance this basic setup with all other sections (like compressor, reveb, etc.).
Tell us if it gives something interesting for you

That's what I would suggest too, pick a brighter piano like the Yamaha and boost the mids to cut through. Is it the problem that many of us have had regarding how you appear in the mix? Piano is sometimes difficult to get to shine through evenly in a loud band - EQ might be what makes the difference.

Hi Guys,
Just did a rock n roll gig last night with my NS2 88. I have my imperial grand piano set up just as I want it, EQ etc. I found last night however, that it was a bit tough to get it to cut through. So I intend to have a programming session later on and make an alternative piano for rock n roll stuff using either the Yam studio 2 or the bright grand and then set dynamics and EQ plus maybe a bit of compression if necessary. Do any of you use the compressor on your acoustic piano sounds to make them cut through better? Just wondered what your findings are

I have found for premixing the piano has to be a little louder than the gutairs at first and then pulled back with the EQ until it reaches a comfortable level. The rest of the Eq if for taste

Hi,
Do you mean in a live situation or studio? How do you adjust your eq live? Do you stand in front of the front of the main speakers with your NS? In soundcheck, you would have to keep the rest of the band playing whilst you listened out front - went back to your keyboard - made EQ adjustments and then check it again?!
Or is there an easier way to use your method?

Hi,
Had rehearseal with my band last night. I tried some of the suggested settings, turned up MID and FREQ. Added some reverb. Tried a little bit with compressor on as well. I must say the difference was BIG. Finally I could hear my piano! I even tried without my in-ear-system and could actually hear what I played together with the others. Earlier the sound did not really cut through, we've found it difficult to get a nice mix without getting the piano to loud but now we did not adjust the volume at all. I've brought my piano home so now I'm gonna make some fine tuning and make a program. Maybe I will post it here later on.
So thanks everone for the feedback and thoughts!
