newbie slots A and B - how to store

greetings! i'm having difficulty storing sounds into slots ?
i copied program 1.1 to bank 6.1 to setup
a layer combination strings + piano.
i wanted to have slot A be the Full Strings sound
and have slot B be the Grand piano sound.
how do I change the slot B sound?
what sequence of keys needed to assign sound into slot?
no matter what keys sequence i try from manual description,
slot B is always a synth sound.
any help or step-by-step appreciated, thanks!

Hello freddie_tane,
Have you turned the Memory Protect feature off?
Seems simple enough, but many miss this step.
Starting with bank 6 program 1 selected.
Set the NS2 so that Slot B has focus (using the Focus button between the encoders)
Now press and hold the Slot B button and turn the Value Dial until you find the sound to be copied "Grand Piano sound from 6:1 or 1:1" when you release the Slot B button, that sound is in the edit buffer.
Change focus to Slot A and repeat the process by finding the Full Strings, make any additional edits, then store the program to any location you wish.
Cheers, Hanon

thanks, hanon -
do you know why the sound manager doesn't offer a way to assign
sounds into the Slots A & B?
it only seems to allow move/copy into Slot A?
using ctl-drag-drop to copy in the dual split view.
version = 5.58 build 314 [win]
wave keyboard = 2.02

Hello freddie_tane,
see page 18 of the NSM manual and see if the "send to Slot A-D" accomplishes your goal.

hi hanon -
well, if by "nsm" you mean "nord sound manager",
the pdf manual that i can find on the product DVD,
and on the site, is only 9 pages long!
where can I get the manual you speak of?

Hi freddie_tane,
yes, NSM or Nord Sound Manager.
I've attached the one that I'm referring to.
It's a bit older

thanks for all your help, hanon - i'll give it a try - this looks like Version 1.x manual where there wasn't even a USB mode ... hope it works on the NSM version 2.x that came on the DVD - is 1.x available as a download still?
Also, there is a Version 6 download on Nord site ... hmmm ... one thing at a time, first will see if the context-right-click is available in my current NSM.

hi - Using 5.x nor 6.x NSM, this feature is not available - right click doesn't offer that option.
Any other suggestions?

It's because it's not available for nord wave, but only nord stage. You have to do it right from the keyboard on the wave
