Nord Wave 2 Midi Clock from Ableton

Hey guys!

I have been using Wave 2 for a bit. And recently I tried connecting Wave 2 to Ableton via USB.

Receiving Midi notes works fine so I can easily send midi signals to play clips on my Ableton, however I am having difficulty syncing the tempo (MIDI CLOCK) from Ableton to Nord Wave 2.

This might be a stupid question but whenever Iong press on the tempo button, all I can see is 'Rate (internal)' and it seems like there is no way to change it to external or so.

How can i sync the midi clock from my Ableton to Nord Wave 2 via USB?

Thank you so much for your answers in advance!

Hello and welcome to NUF :-)

Answer is at page 14 of NW2 manual https://www.nordkeyboards.com/wt/docume ... on%20G.pdf

EXTERNAL SYNC
The Master Clock on the Wave 2 can be controlled by incoming MIDI
clock messages. This is an automatic behavior: as soon as the Wave 2
receives MIDI clock on the MIDI input or the USB MIDI input, the Master
Clock will be synchronized to the incoming external clock.
When the Master Clock is locked to an incoming clock, “MIDI” will be
shown in the display if MST CLK is pressed, together with the incoming
tempo in BPM.

so you should first check on Ableton side, i.e. use a MIDI Monitor app on the computer to be sure that Ableton is actually sending MIDI Clock messages to the port of NW2 USB MIDI and change Ableton settings if this is not happening (I don't use Ableton so I cannot indicate exactly where, but I am sure there are guides and tutorials around about this + Ableton manuals).
