One might have thought that Clavia could have implemented some sort of simple MIDI filtering functionality into the NS3, so as to be able to choose which categories of MIDI messages to send and - not least importantly - not to send.

But there seems to be no such option. This seems highly irregular to me. Even my ancient (30 something years) old Yamaha P150 stage piano has pretty advanced MIDI filtering options, where you can select each type of MIDI message individually, and whether to send it, recieve it, both, or neither.
I´m using a TC Helicon Perform VK vocal processor which I want to control through MIDI, but which I basically want to recieve notes *only*, in order to contol the on-board harmonizer. The NS3 obnoxiously sends basically all other types of MIDI messages as well, however, which results (among other things) in an ugly vibrato-effect on the vocals, whenever I use the control wheel to adjust stuff within the NS3.

Am I missing something? Am I the only one to take issue with this lack of such a simple feature as MIDI filtering? Is there any way (beides purchasing expensive and cumbersome MIDI filtering hardware to put between the NS3 and the Perform VK) to filter outgoing MIDI messages, per type?

You should use the NS3 Extern section to do that, not the Global MIDI. Read carefully about Extern Section usage on NS3 manual or on the Nord Stage MIDI Tutorial available in this forum Downloads section.

In general, study all NS3 manual if you want to understand well how it works, before saying what it can or cannot do…

Ok, that might be the sollution then. I tried it and it seems to work.

It feels unnecessarily cumbersome, though. It´s a great feature, but it feels like one *should* be able to just filter out any (incoming or outgoing) MIDI message of choice, even within the global MIDI settings.
