Can anyone identify this percussion instrument?

Post by ZeroZero »

I know these exist. I have seen them. It is sometimes found mounted on some drum kit rigs, as extra percussion, similar role to a cow bell, but can also be found isolated.
They are in pairs, pitched. They are made of hard wood and are shaped like conches, or more accurately, the tops of a beansprout head, only they are much larger, each "conch" is about the size of a large fist or small coconut. They are hollow within. Maybe some kind of exotic giant seed?

Two "conch-like" wooden, hollow percussion instruments, hit with a stick, pitched.

Anyone know their name?
