Electro 6 Key bed durability

Hi everyone, I have played an Electro 6 HP73 for four years and recently had a hammer break. Once we opened it, it turned out 35 other hammers had hairline cracks and the whole key bed needed replacing. This appears to be a design flaw due to the hammers having metal weights encased in plastic which leads to stress fractures over time.
I'm a gentle player and use a hardshell case to move my gear. I don't want to have to replace the key bed every few years, so I'm considering selling it and switching down to an Electro 5 which seems to use a different mechanism for its weighted keys.
Has anyone else had this issue? I'm curious to hear any guidance or recommendations about how best to move forward. Thanks!
