hi, I recently bought the nord piano 5 73 open box but still under warranty and have 2 issues.
one is the mechanical hammer noise in the f3 to b4 octave and the other problem is that I feel like a few keys are out of tune on the grand piano sounds duch as f3, a3 and c4. When i check with a digital tuner they are indeed flat.
Is this normal? or is something wrong with mine?

Mechanical hammer noise is fairly common, but if its really loud than it could be that the felt used to damper the key when it returns may have worn or come off on those specific keys. (if under warranty you may wish to return the unit for another keyboard)

The nord piano engines are sample based, not simulated. Anything out of tune will be a reflection of the specific sample set (try different piano samples to find ones that are tuned differently)

I have an identical instrument which I've been playing enthusiastically for a while. The key mechanisms can generate noise as they age, but I'm always playing at volume: headphones, IEMs, monitors, PA, etc. Like pedal noise, it's something I expect. Getting a new one likely won't change the situation much.

If you don't like the tuning of a particular sample, try another one! Also, you might try layering with one of the digital synth samples which creates an interesting chorusing effect as those are 100% tuned.

Thank You. Well I love the white grand and imperial but it bothers me the sound when I play the f3 or a3 mainly. A few other grands don t do it but these ones I love the sound in all the other ranges.
I have yamaha modx and had in the past roland and korg. Maybe is a matter of adapting but when i check.with tuner all the other keys are 440 right on like the g3 which is in between the f3 and a 3 so I wonder how can that be normal? I will upload a recording clip so I can get a feedback from you guys. Thanks so much for your time and help

It can be normal if the real piano from which those samples where recorded was out of tune on those notes too, in general Nord philosophy is to keep samples "raw" for more realism (do you always play only perfectly tuned acoustic pianos? Lucky you!) while other brands may rework/adjust them to perfect tune. But how much detune are we talking about? Is it really that bad for you?

Yes, could be you just need to adapt, finally. Try also non-XL (L or M) versions of those samples, just in case.

That's absolutely ok.
I would say nord samples have way more detuned notes elsewhere then where you are looking now.
You will find them.
I've been critic about this aproach but also everytime I try other brands (I was in yamaha and kawai and give them a chance every now and then) I keep coming back to nord appreciating the dynamics, the harmonic blend of chords, the crisp and present release sounds... All things that in the end make these sounds a lot more similar to playing a real piano.
If some detune here and there is the mean nord uses to have chords notes melting so good together and expressing harmony even with hard jazz chords well... Be it.
I think you will start to note this too in a while

It's the exact same White Grand sample I hear everywhere these days as it's very popular.

Your recording sounds identical to every other Nord playing a White Grand sample -- there will be no variation as it's a digital reproduction.
