Electro 5D 73 percussion setting

When I activate the percussion setting it sustains for a long time, changing the sound of the draw-bar settings.
Is this due to a dirty contact in percussion panel or some other issue?

Try pressing the percussion button again until the Fast led is on - that mode gives a shorter effect.

Thank you for the suggestion Pianoharri, but this is a quite different problem.
I am ware of the long/short setting for percussion, but when either setting is turned on, the percussive 'note' sustains as long as the keys are held down, as if a high register draw-bar has been pulled out, causing a high volume screech.

Do you have the 1' drawbar pulled out? The Electro 5 doesn't cancel the 1' drawbar when percussion is turned on, per usual B3 behavior. Something many of us have been griping about for a long time.

Try pushing the top drawbar in and see if you get the same result. Apologies if you already tried this.

Thanks Rusty Mike. I'll double check that.

Hi Bobob2

and a very warm welcome to this wonderful forum of nord enthusiasts.

Rusty Mike is not quite right with the NE5‘s handling of drawbar 9 mute when percussion is on. This function can be switched on or off in SOUND MENU. The 5 still was one of the realistic generations. I wouldn‘t expect great hope here but do remain curious.

One idea: I‘ve once experienced at very fast playing that all note on commands worked well but it may happen that a single note off command gets stuck. Try if playing and releasing every single key, solely and slowly, could help.

I try later this evening at my electro if I may reproduce your issue.

Good luck, fingers crossed, may the nord be with you.

Cheers from Germany

Bobob, there‘s one further thing which interests me. If you, in organ mode, put all the drawbars to zero, switch off all effects, EQ and reverb, only switch on PERCUSSION and then play - what happens? At my NE5 a percussive tone is audible, its decay is, depending on FAST or SLOW, shorter or a bit longer, but in any case vanishing. Every note played gets its tone, except when I hold one key, then all later notes are mute.

What brings me to this is to find out whether your FAST button is working correctly.

Furthermore, does your issue affect all keys from bottom to top or only sections?

Good luck again and cheers from Germany
