How do you get non-corny soul organ sounds?

electric piano sounds great
piano sounds are great with headphones, a little corny out loud in a group (even in stereo?) but this may not be nord-specific

but organ: everything I try sounds corny, I have gone through the presets.

I use something close to 1:02 B3 soulful:
- 1 B3 chorus: c3 (have tried without as well)
- drive ~3
- alternate between slow/fast
- percussion on, no other soft/fast/third percussion options
- sometimes another B3 or B3 bass to make it cut through more.
- layer effects: small amount of reverb (stage), comp. no amp

I have tried others. they are giving baseball, catholic church, or $20 goodwill casio unfortunately.

any ideas for a soul/pop vibe? what settings do you guys use? any effects or amp settings they'd recommend? please help

Hi! Two questions that will be helpful for anyone here in giving you advice.

1. What Nord model do you have?
2. What amplification are you using (i.e. what’s your sound system, what are you using live)?

Can you perhaps give us a sound example of how your setting sounds "corny", and one of what you're looking for?

Many of us here are reasonably happy with the B3 sounds on the NS4. Myself, I play in a six piece band, and the sounds sit well in the mix -- both live and recorded. I don't play a lot of what could be called soul organ though.

Getting the right level in the mix is important though. Push the pianos (or organ) too far forward, and it's annoying -- just like a lead guitar would be.
