Sample Editor - sample tempo

I'm just starting to figure out the Sample Editor

Is there a way to change the tempo of a sample in Editor?

... or better yet live on my NS3, so I can match the tempo of my drummer - who can't seem to play a song the same speed twice?

Speeding up a sample or slowing it down will typically result in a change of pitch and vice versa. That's what happens to a sample you apply to more than one key - unless you disable pitch change.

What you want is known as warping or stretching of sounds and needs to be done externally - be it within a DAW or with the help of Audacity or other audio editors.

If you need to match your drummer with a sample you want to play, bands usually use a click.

Many thanks Herr Ziegler for the quick reply

I'll play around with the sample in Audacity to see if I can change the tempo and not the pitch

Yes, Audacity works well. Every note you intend to play will need to be sampled to retain the same tempo. If you are limited on the notes sampled, Audacity will also change the pitch without changing the tempo for assignment to other notes. Good luck!
