Last time I used the Nord Sound Manager it was working fine, but now "transfer to Instrument" and the 3 entries below this, on the Sound Library drop down, are all greyed out?

Probably my bad!

Can anyone help please..

Hi,

which version of Nord Sound Manager do you use?

Is the connection of NSM to your Nord Stage 4 established properly, and have you disabled memory protection on the Nord Stage 4?

Download manager 9.02.

Checked the MIDI input and when unplugged/plugged in, the PC beeps, so it is recognised.

So does Nord Sound Manager connect to the NS4 and reads it's contents?

How about the memory protection setting on the NS4?

MIDI Input is not related and a beep is not a sign all is OK, afaik NSM doesn't use the keyboard as a MIDI device to communicate btw; start NSM first and then connect the Nord Stage 4, if Sync does not start immediately then it is not working.

Ensure also you have the latest Clavia USB Driver installed on your PC

Correct Max, that's why I asked if the connection between NSM and the NS4 has been established correctly of course by USB, not 5-pin MIDI just to be precise). A beep indicating a physical/hardware layer connection does not guarantee that the connection at the software layer has been established as well.

Memory protection enabled might also cause NSM to grey-out the options which load content onto the NS4, hence once again my the question if memory protection has been disabled/switched off on the Nord Stage 4

Thank you all.

My Whole sytem is up to date inc driver and NSM. I am connected to a PC by a USB cable. which seems to be recognised. No old style MIDI connections. Memory protection is off.

Thanks, the fog lifts a bit …

Remaining question: does NSM software connect to your NS4 and synchronise with it fully?

I don't know how to test this with these options greyed out

When you connect your PC to the NS4 and start Sound Manager the first thing NSM does is scanning the whole content of your NS4 which is called “synchronizing” and then shows all programs, samples etc that are in your NS4. Does it do this?

Can you eventually take a screenshot from the NSM window after you started it, so we can see if synchronization works?

You may also try another USB cable, there were issues reported with some USB cables in the past. If you can please also try with another computer
