DSP 3 comm error
Hello
Just bought a Nord Stage 4 88. V2.3 Rev B, OS 1.24
I was playing the programs when I reached program A:85 and as soon as I played the sound cut and a message appear DSP 3 COMM ERROR.
Is it a hardware problem (dsp….) I’m sad a bit.
The drive back and forth is over 6 hours.
I have to restart the keyboard and other programs seems to work. only this one so far.
The store called me and will call the Nord Distributor.
I also unplugged everything except the power and same issue on that program.
Regards
Daniel

Re: DSP 3 comm error
First thing is to update to lates OS, currently 1.46.
Then try again. If the problem is fixed, the problem seems to be software-related.

Re: DSP 3 comm error
I updated to the latest software and did a factory reset. Same issue. The Nord distributor in Canada asked me to open my brand new 9k keyboard to check the DSP if correctly set.
I did not do the last part as I do not want to break something else.
The music store already ordered a new one to replace mine.
I had 6 nord boards and this is my forth stage 88 and never had a hardware issue like that.
I found other issues related to that on the stage 3 and nord piano 5, so not a lot of reported errors like that. One of the board that had issue had to replace the motherboard.

Re: DSP 3 comm error
Seems a HW issue, either a defective DSP or bad soldering or circuit track, in any case, whatever the problem, if your NS4 is under warranty and a replacement is proposed by the distributor, that's the best way to go.

Re: DSP 3 comm error
I had a NS4 that just stopped working, no lights in any of the displays, but humming from the power supply though.
The synth was under warranty, and was replaced without any issue, but it's frustrating when it happens.
Just for curiosity; Have you tried using the specific sample in another program, just to see if it's the sample itself that causes the DSP error?

Re: DSP 3 comm error
Good point, I re-read the initial post and if the problem happens on a single Program then it may well be a defective sample/program, the test you suggest should detect if that's the case.catosim wrote: 17 Jan 2025, 15:32 I had a NS4 that just stopped working, no lights in any of the displays, but humming from the power supply though.

Re: DSP 3 comm error
Just received yesterday and found the issue 3 hours later, so warranty still brand new. That is why the music store ordered right away a new one and the Nord distributor asking to re set the DSP is not the best idea , I could break something else and void my warranty. So that is why the store ordered a new one. I do not really like the fact to keep it and there is an issue with this, could I have something else. I would have prefer to talk to Clavia directly for troubleshooting.
I thought the sample also, was trying to replicate, but I did a complete factory reset with the latest 1.46 factory file.
So everything is restored with the correct data. I will try over this weekend to see if I can replicate.
Thanks for the replies

Re: DSP 3 comm error
I totally agree about replacing the synth.
I just find it interesting to sort out if it's the program or the sample (or maybe another element in the program) that makes the DSP go crazy.

+1 it would be interesting to know the cause, but better replace it no matter whatcatosim wrote: 17 Jan 2025, 18:39 I totally agree about replacing the synth.

Re: DSP 3 comm error
I went through all the pgms. No issue except program A-85. I copied it to an empty program, same issue.
I took another program that only contain synths, change all the layers to sample, and change them randomly and at some point it crash.
On the A-85, if I change the sample back and forth, it works for minutes even while playing, then while changing them again back and forth, it crash.
I do not understand how to replicate it if I change the samples before I start playing, it just happens at some point.
But if I start playing without changing anything, it crashes all the time.
