Hi.

Im currently controlling my nord drum 3p with my roland sp pro via midi.
The Roland pads are superior in feel and velocity sensitivity, its mind blowing the difference.

My nord has been a nightmare as you can see in my other posts here. Unfortunately it seems like the 3p is the only thing put there like it so I cant get ride of it.

I would love to do program changes from the Roland but its a pain in the ass to figure out put so im giving up on that task.

My only real question is......It really brothers me Theres no usb midi on the nord. Has anyone tried a midi to usb cable with this? Does it work well??

Hi Naughty Nord 4p,

USB-MIDI interfaces that look like a cable have a USB A connector on one end and 2 MIDI DIN connectors on the other. Their purpose is to connect MIDI devices to a computer (/tablet/phone), you can't use it to connect the 3p to your Roland.
They vary in quality, I'd only buy them from a proper musical instruments store, avoid the very cheap ones, check compatibility with your OS, read reviews before you buy.
The ESI and iConnectivity ones work fine I believe. The ESI MidiMate Ex automatically detects how you connected it, so it can be used as 2 outputs, 2 inputs, or 1 input and 1 output.
