Piano 5 effects amount

OK, forgive me if this is already clearly covered but I couldn't find it and the manual gave no info that I could see. Might be getting a Piano 5 for a great deal, but noticed that the effects on the NP5 only have knobs for rate, not amount. How do you control the amount of an effect? For example if I have an EP and put on some tremolo on Mod 1, I can use the knob for the rate, but how do you set the actual amount (volume/send) of that effect? The Stage series has an "amount" knob, but the NP5 does not. thx!

You are right, Nord Piano as well as Nord Electros have a fixed amount setting or best case an additional "Deep" setting; the Mod 1 effects Amount can also be controlled continuously by Ctrl Pedal, but not from the panel (see NP5 manual chapter 7,

Oh wow, thanks! THat might be a deal-breaker for me and I might need to revisit the Stage series instead since the NP5 seems to have pretty limited effects control. Appreciate it.

I was so unconvinced this was true I had to go look on my Piano 5!
Which means I don’t really notice in practice I guess. The reverb and delay have wet dry mix and the amp model has a level setting but you’ve probably seen that already.
Apart from avoiding the cost and extra panel space presumably the idea is that for many contexts an amount setting is arguably unnecessary. I think the idea is to emulate guitar pedals, which were often used with classic keys, and they tend to be on or off. It’s a shame though and it limits the creative as opposed to merely emulative of a sound use of effects.
UDO released this recently which would be an alternative to using a control pedal but it’s expensive and a bit of a left field solution.
https://udo-audio-shop.myshopify.com/pr ... controller
The blurb says it’s for pitch bend but it can be used wherever an expression pedal can be used.

For what it’s worth, the pre-set effect amount has always seemed to be just about right to me. I can’t recall finding myself wanting more or less effect level beyond the default. This is after owning 5 different Electros and a Piano 5.
Obviously, I can’t speak for all Nord owners.

For those rare instances were you really want to have more control, you could set up panel A and B with the same piano sample, and one has the effect and one doesn't and blend between them.

Yeah same.
I’ve never really noticed!
