Crazly Loud Artifacts On Digital Pianos
I have a brand new Stage 4. Noticed on one Digital Piano some odd artifacts so downloaded a fresh sample and all seemed fine BUT wow was I wrong, Hybrid EP and Ballad EP 1 have been repalced 3 times and the most horrid glitches come out of them. I have run though most of all the other pianos, organs and synths and don't seem to find issues so I figure the hardware is OK ...but I"m concerned.

I can't quite understand your concern or replicate it, though it is worth mentioning that those "Hybrid" sounds in the piano library were (in my opinion) a bit of flair and not really serious sounds that one would use a lot, just special appearances. Surely you invested in this keyboard to use the flagship piano sample library, which has numerous stellar sounds. Have you optimized your piano library selections?

Can you record and upload an example of what you mean?ovrdrvn wrote: 09 Dec 2024, 01:40 I have a brand new Stage 4. Phase issues in a stereo signal chain can cause some weird artifacts. Try a set of known good headphones.
I think I have gear issues ....

That was bizarre to listen to. No, that's not normal at all. Does it replicate on headphones?

I have tried to reload these two keyboard samples dozens of times either manually from downloads or from the full set. Is it possible something more serious is wrong with my NS4?

Re: Crazly Loud Artifacts On Digital Pianos
Ok so after some exprerimenation here's what I found: (note I replaced the piano partition...then even formatted it!) the sounds that make noise and some others that don't make sound, worked with only 1 1/4 " plugged into Port 1 on the Nord. I had cords in 1 and 2 patched to a mixer via 1 TRS on the mixer side. Since all of the other sounds seemed fine, are some of these pianos possibly done in such a way that they don't support this and/or screw up over stereo? My guess is there is still some issue here but maybe I misundersand how the 4 outputs work. Please not the settings are still at default for all the outs from organ, piano to synth.

Re: Crazly Loud Artifacts On Digital Pianos
You never mentioned if things sounded normal when you use headphones. It sounds like you've screwed up the phase on one of your audio connections. Most likely one of your audio cables is wired backwards, which would cause the L and R signals cancel each other.ovrdrvn wrote: 26 Jan 2025, 21:55 Ok so after some exprerimenation here's what I found: (note I replaced the piano partition...then even formatted it!) the sounds that make noise and some others that don't make sound, worked with only 1 1/4 " plugged into Port 1 on the Nord. There's no magic to how the outputs on the Nord Stage work -- just consult the manual. Running L and R to a single stereo TRS input cable is probably your issue. Again, try a pair of known good headphones and go from there.
