I recently purchased a Nord stage 4 and love it.
It effectively obviates the need for a Hammond XK4 as an external sound source, for example.
However, there are other sounds that I’m looking for that. The Nord doesn’t seem to have.
This came up recently when I was asked to play some Jimmy Buffett music and I was looking for a steel drum.
Couldn’t find anything like that on the Nord. I did find that on my Kurzweil PC4 .
And also I have it on my Fantom 0.
I was considering using the Fantom as an external sound source or the Kurzweil PC4.
Any thoughts? what do y’all use when you perform for an external sound source or do you even need one?
Another possibility is just take my iPad and you sound off of that.

Samples are mono layered, therefore some sounds may not be appropriate.
1. I look at the official Nord Sample Library to see if the sound is here
2. If not, I look at the samples/programs here (or in the nordusersounds website)
3. If not, I look at WAV samples on the web to create my own Nord samples
4. If not, I sample sounds on my other gear to create Nord samples
5. If samples don't reproduce as expected, I finally use an app on my ipad connected to the EXT section to produce the sound

I know about number 1 and have used that with the app.
Will check out number 2.
Have read about but not tried numbers 3 & 4
And 5 makes sense. I’ve done that with other external sources.

I have to say I prefer my Nord stage 4 over anything else I have.

You do not need any external sound sources with your NS4. It can do it all.

not true, there are many things you cannot do on the NS4. articulated (brass, strings, guitar, and voices), polymorphic-glide, etc.
