Sample Editor Query

Hi, I've a sample I've downloaded for my NE6 in nsmp format. I want to edit the volume on some of the keys. The sample editor doesn't seem to open an nsmp file so I'm happy to resample everything into a new project.
So, how do I get the sound from my NE6 into the Sample Editor? It doesn't seem to be possible via USB and when i select my Focusrite Scarlett interface into the inputs I get no sounds coming through. I can record into a Daw fine. I don't want to have to Record each key into a Daw and save the Wavs separately. It'll take forever.
I just don't understand why It's not super simple to play a key on the NE6 and it just appear in the Sample Editor, or why it can't just import an entire soundset from the NE6.
Any help would be greatful.

Hi,
Sample Editor is not able to edit existing samples, it's for creating your own samples from audio files like wave etc. You can edit existing samples only if you have access to the original sample editor project file and the original audio files used to create it.
Resampling is the way to go unfortunately, means you must record it into wave files and then re-create the sample with Sample Editor including the modifications needed. Software like SampleRobot can help a lot recording it and creating the way files in an automated way

Autosampler applications can automate this for you, if you have a Mac an Autosampler is built-in in last versions of Mainstage and Logic X
https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques ... -mainstage, if you are on Windows instead there are apps like Sample Robot (as Schorsch mentioned) and probably other similar ones.
Another option is to create a midifile with all notes you want to sample (with a little pause after each note), play it in your DAW sending MIDI to NE6 and record the output as a single .wav, since NSE is also able to detect different notes within a single .wav and assign them to the appropriate key.

much harder than the program format structure that took us month bit by bit !
