Electro 4 reverb wet mix (?) suddenly boosting

Lately when I'm playing any program, the reverb will suddenly kick up a significant notch, as though the dry/wet knob has been cranked +50%. I have to re select the same program to return the reverb to how it was originally saved. This can happen 2-3 times per minute of playing... so annoying!

No LED changes are observed during the 'jump', and the change is not as extreme as selecting a different reverb program, so it's possibly just confined to the dry/wet pot. Could opening the hood and spraying the pot with elec contact cleaner be worth a shot?

I wondered if anyone had experienced similar random jumps with on-board effects and if a fix had been found.

Thanks for your ideas/knowledge

Hi,

This is a known problem. When you are playing, the whole keyboard is mechanically shaking. This might lead to a slight change of the reverb poti position. I have the same problem on my NS4.

An easy fix is to put a rubber ring under the knob, with which a higher force is needed to turn the know. Just search for Potifix and you will find the available options.

Thanks for the responses. The knob in no way feels loose, but I guess vibration could cause a tiny shift. I'll try adding an O-ring under the knob.

Update: Previously I'd removed the knob, and just touching the metal stem was enough to cause reverb jumps. Then I replaced the knob & wound it down to zero before powering on the Electro. So far reverb has stayed stable. Haven't tried the o-ring yet as our house painter had trestles blocking the shed door where my plumbing bits & pieces reside 😄
